Editorial Guidelines
Perspicuity News and Opinions is an independent, single-author news publication. These guidelines explain how we work, what we publish, and how readers should understand our content.
1. Who We Are
Perspicuity News and Opinions is written and maintained by one person. We are not a corporate newsroom, we are not funded by any political party or government, and we do not pretend to be a traditional outlet. We are a perspective-driven publication that mixes verified reporting, curated aggregation of news from reliable sources, and original commentary.
2. Accuracy First
Every factual claim in our standard news reporting is verified against reliable, primary sources — including Reuters, Associated Press, BBC News, AFP, official government statements, court filings, and public records. When we cannot confirm a claim, we say so explicitly rather than presenting it as fact.
3. Sourcing & Attribution
- We attribute information to named sources whenever possible.
- When we curate or rewrite stories from other outlets, we credit the original source clearly: "according to Reuters," "the BBC reported," "a White House statement said."
- We do not reproduce articles word-for-word. Every aggregated story is rewritten in our own words with attribution.
- We do not publish unverified rumours or anonymous claims without clear labelling.
4. BOLD — Our Bold, Unfiltered Vertical
BOLD is Perspicuity News' editorial arm for aggressive, investigative, and opinionated reporting. BOLD is deliberately confrontational and direct. It calls out contradictions, hypocrisy, and corporate or political spin when the evidence supports it.
BOLD is still bound by accuracy. Every aggressive claim in BOLD is traceable to a named source or a public document. BOLD is raw — it is not dishonest.
5. Fact Check
Our Fact Check desk verifies public claims made by politicians, public figures, and viral statements. Each fact-check reviews the exact claim, compares it against primary sources, and issues a verdict using the standard scale recognized by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN):
- True — the claim is accurate
- Mostly True — accurate but missing context
- Half True — partially accurate, partially misleading
- Mostly False — mostly wrong, some factual basis
- False — factually incorrect
- Misleading — technically true but framed to deceive
- Unproven — insufficient evidence
- Satire — originated as satire or parody
- Out of Context — real, but misleading framing
6. Opinion & Analysis
Opinion and analysis pieces are clearly labelled. They represent the perspective of the author. They are grounded in facts but reflect judgement, interpretation, and point of view. Readers should not confuse opinion with news reporting.
7. Honesty About Our Approach
We are not a traditional news outlet. We mix:
- Curated and rewritten news from reliable sources
- Original investigative and opinion writing
- Fact-checks of public claims
- Commentary and analysis from a clear perspective
We tell readers this openly. You can believe it or not — but you will always know where our content comes from.
8. Corrections Policy
We are human and mistakes happen. When we make a factual error, we correct it promptly and add a visible correction note at the top or bottom of the article. Significant corrections are noted on the homepage.
To request a correction, contact us with the subject line "Correction" and include the article URL.
9. Independence
We do not accept funding, gifts, or favours that could influence our coverage. We are not affiliated with any political party, government, or corporate interest. Our reporting stands on its own.
10. Fairness
When reporting on disputes or controversies, we seek comment from all relevant parties and reflect their positions accurately. Where we cannot reach a party, we say so.
11. Transparency
We disclose:
- Use of AI-assisted tools in drafting or research, where relevant
- Sponsored content (clearly marked "Sponsored" or "Paid Content")
- Any conflicts of interest of the author
12. Ethical Standards
We follow widely accepted journalistic ethics:
- We do not pay sources for information
- We do not misrepresent ourselves to obtain information
- We respect the privacy of private individuals
- We protect vulnerable sources
- We do not publish graphic content unnecessarily
13. Reader Engagement
We welcome tips, feedback, and criticism. Comments are moderated to keep discussion civil and on-topic.
